Fate or Formation?

Are people destined for greatness? Born to be great and living greatness as life goes on. Or is greatness merely something we pick up on the way as we live our lives? Are great people really born to be great, even before they enter this world or are people just people, who just eventually learn how to be great? The case of fate versus formation.

Yes, I overused great.

So where did this stem out from? Well, a friend of mine began looking at numerology and numerology life paths. So I looked at mine.

To get that, you add the numbers in your birthday.

My Birthday: 12.16.1988

Numerology:

=1+2+1+6+1+9+8+8

=36 = 3+6

=9

So my life path is 9. And here are bits of what it says, (See sentences in Bold), and excerpts from my older blogs (italicized).

As a 9, you are the philanthropist, humanitarian, socially conscious, and are deeply concerned about the state of the world. because of your strong social consciousness, you can be an effective politician, lawyer, judge, minister, teacher, healer, and environmentalist.

October 19th, 2008 at 10:52 AM. I want a profession that gives back to the community or something that makes a difference.

You are often disappointed by the realities of life: the shortcomings of others, or of yourself. Rather than be satisfied with your efforts, and those of others, you relentlessly push on, striving for greater accomplishments.

February 3rd, 2010 i need to get the fuck out of this slump and start working my ass off, or else, i’m gonna pay for it in the long run. (or in the nine-weeks-left-in-my-term run).

You are romantic, but your love is more impersonal. You tend to be focused on your dreams.

I think on the bulk of my blogs, it is kind of apparent that I do focus more on things I want done, dreams that I long for.

You have a gift for examining your life objectively, and at some distance. Be honest with yourself. By openly facing your shortcomings, as well as your strengths, you develop equilibrium.

Dec. 6th, 2008 at 7:02 PM: I am Passive-Aggressive

So, surprising enough, these are pretty accurate. So I took a look at some Astrology stuff, and here is what it says about Sagittarius.

Sagittarius is the traveler of the zodiac and considers every day an opportunity for another adventure.  This is a cheerful, spontaneous, and idealistic individual with an exceptional sense of humor. Though not considered particularly deep by friends and acquaintances, Sagittarius does think deeply about the big picture, such as why he is here and where he is going, and can often see the end results with almost prophetic accuracy.   As a lifelong seeker of knowledge, Sagittarius will likely be quite well-read in a variety of subjects, and will be equipped with a well-developed philosophy in which he maintains unshakable faith.  Sagittarians retain almost a child-like quality throughout their lives, always remaining optimistic and never fully accepting the seriousness inherent in day-to-day living.  Obviously, this degree of child-like naivety coupled with borderline reckless spontaneity can and does cause problems for some Sagittarius individuals, but if things don’t turn out well, they will dust themselves off and cheerfully jump to their next adventure without any serious regrets.

Sagittarius in the workplace is the one with the world map on the wall with push pins in all the places he plans to go.  He is self-confident, positive, enthusiastic, and easy-going, and he is likely way ahead of you as far as the company’s big picture is concerned.   As the sign of the Archer, Sagittarius will aim high at work, resulting in rather spectacular achievements (or sometimes spectacular  failures).  Fortunately, his successes will usually outweigh his failures, and in general you can count on his hunches to pan out profitably.   Sagittarius will get along well with co-workers despite his always present blunt tactlessness, and because of his need to know everything, he will be a fountain of information as far as who is doing what at any given moment.  Though he might seem frivolous and you often find yourself wondering if he is doing anything at all, Sagittarius will be the one who pinch hits at the eleventh hour and saves the day. Sagittarius will do best in occupations that allow for a good bit of freedom, and will wilt like a week-old rose in a job that is too restrictive.

I like to think these are pretty accurate.

Seeing how the date of birth factors in terms of personalities of people (as in numerology and astrology), can we really say that its nurture over nature that directs a person’s life? Can people stray away from things they were born to become? Can I just say “Fuck you, fate. Screw you and your plans for me!” Would that also mean that parents can direct what kind of person they want their child to be by properly calculating dates of birth to personalities that they like? If it does, where does god play in all this?
